New Delhi: Delhi went dark on Wednesday morning as it began to rain heavily, flooding roads.
Angry office goers are tweeting about being stuck in the massive traffic jams that have become synonymous with rain in the capital.
The police in Gurugram, the business hub adjacent to Delhi, issued advisories early as the rain came pouring down, asking people to be patient and navigate roads with discipline.
There are reports however of major chaos on the roads of the city, which grappled with 12-hour-long jams last month after persistent showers.
“Heavy rains in Gurgaon, please be advised. Be patient and maintain lane discipline, we are on the job to facilitate your movement,” the Gurgaon police tweeted, warning that visibility is low.
Many people travel between Delhi and Gurgaon for work and there are fears of a repeat of last month’s flooding on the National Highway-8 that left thousands of commuters stranded.
“Rain or no rain… Delhi to Gurgaon roads are always jammed,” Priyanka Thakkar tweeted.
